Following its official launch by Governor Pramono Anung, PT MRT Jakarta has officially begun construction on the much-anticipated Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck.

This infrastructure is set to be the heartbeat of the Dukuh Atas Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) area, serving as a vital bridge for commuters moving between different transport modes.
Currently, the area is split into four disconnected quadrants by the Ciliwung River and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. The new pedestrian deck aims to eliminate these barriers, providing a seamless and optimal connection for thousands of daily travelers.

With its iconic circular design—100 meters wide and elevated 12 meters above the ground—the deck is all about reclaiming time. No more long detours or confusing transfers; this bridge is built to get you where you need to be, faster and more comfortably than ever before.
Program Management Office Division Advisor for PT MRT Jakarta, Agus Trihan highlighted that the new pedestrian deck will significantly slash commuting times by two to five minutes.
"Transferring between modes will be about 2-3 minutes faster. However, the most notable improvement is for those walking from the Landmark Building toward the Shangri-La area," he explained, during a presentation on Thursday (7/30).
He described the current route as chaotic, requiring pedestrians to navigate a maze of stairs and detours. This new path could save them up to 5 minutes.
Additionally, the deck is expected to untangle the human traffic jams at the Kendal Tunnel, which has long been the main bottleneck for commuters.
TOD Planning Department Head for PT MRT Jakarta, Sagita Devi explained that the Kendal Tunnel is currently the sole artery connecting the four quadrants of Dukuh Atas. It has led to intense overcrowding as foot traffic converges in a single spot.
"We expect this pedestrian deck to break the massive crowds at Kendal Tunnel. Right now, it’s the only way for people to navigate between the four quadrants, causing a major bottleneck," she explained.
To ensure a smooth commute, the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck features a smart design with widened sections at key scenic spots.
"While the main path is 4-5 meters wide, dedicated viewing zones will expand to 7 meters. This ensures that people stopping to enjoy the skyline will not block the flow of busy travelers," she added.
The project, valued at Rp 361.7 billion, is now entering the tender phase. Notably, the project is entirely self-funded by PT MRT Jakarta without using the City Budget (APBD). The funding split consists of 50% internal investment and 50% loans.
Construction is set to kick off this November, with completion targeted for 2028.
